The movie jaws is based on a novel wrote by Peter Benchley (puts a picture of him) . The movie jaws was directed by Steven Spielberg (picture) an amazing and creative American film director he has created many mind blowing movies like Jurassic park , Indiana Jones and many more.

This heart-pounding movie is about Man V.S Shark and lies under the genre thriller. Not to be too much of a spoiler but it starts of with woman who was killed by a shark when she went skinny dipping at the beach near a tourist town of Amity Island. A police chief named Martin Brody than wants to close down the beach but wasn’t given permission to because the mayor Larry Vaughn fears the loss of tourists will cripple the town as 4th of July will be coming and is a big time for Amity island for tourist to come down and go to the beach. Martin Brody than decided that he has to kill the killing machine with the help of two man Matt Hooper an Ichthyologist and A shark hunter named Quint.   The set of the movie was at Amity Island. It started on May 2, 1974.

Jaws Analysis

   
Music begins very quiet and slow.

  • Audience feel submerge underwater
  • Starting point for tension.
The camera shows the point of view (POV) of the shark moving through the weeds.

  • It lets us see what the shark sees of the shark.
  • The shark is swimming through the weeds. The shark is heading somewhere.
  • To create a mysterious feeling to the audience.
  • Foreshadowing ( something is going to happen) due to music.

 

The music builds up and gets louder and faster.

 

  • To catch the attention of the audience.
  • To give the audience a shocking starting so you would continue watching as you are curious of what is going to happen…. But cuts of to party on the beach (change of beach) and it links to the people at the beach telling that a character is going to die.
  • Tension builds up further giving the a sign of DANGER!!!
Opening Scene    
There is the    sound of a mouth organ being played at the beach party.
